Sometimes the perfect session comes along at exactly the right time.
After a little time away from shooting, this photographer, Ashtyn, was ready to get back behind the camera, and a Mommy & Me session at The White Room was such a sweet way to jump back in. With a mama, her older son, and her brand-new baby boy in front of her lens, the session gave her the chance to ease back into creating while documenting such a tender season for this family.
The White Room made a beautiful setting for the session. The bright natural light and simple, neutral space kept the focus completely on Mom and her boys, while giving everyone plenty of room to settle in and feel comfortable. With a newborn and an older sibling, having a space that allows for both quiet snuggles and a little movement can make such a difference.
The resulting images are full of the things we love about Mommy & Me sessions—the way an older child leans into Mom, those tiny newborn details, brothers together, and Mom getting to actually be in the frame with her babies.
These sessions don’t need elaborate setups or complicated posing. Some of the sweetest images come from simply giving a family a beautiful space, great light, and permission to love on one another.
And for the photographer behind this session, it was also a chance to pick up her camera again and get back into the rhythm of photographing families. We love seeing photographers use The White Room in every season of their businesses, whether they’re shooting several sessions a week or finding their footing again after some time away.
This Mommy & Me session was a beautiful reminder of just how much can happen within four simple white walls—a new baby being welcomed, a big brother soaking up his mama, and a photographer getting back to doing what she loves.
